Slip-and-fall accidents: damages sought after parking lot fall

It's just a fact of life that accidents are going to happen. Obviously, some accidents are unpredictable and unavoidable. However, most accidents can be prevented by taking the proper safety precautions. In public establishments in New Jersey and across the country, the best ways to prevent accidents are removing potential hazards, keeping walkways clear and appropriately maintaining the property. Failure to take these precautions and keep a safe environment could result in slip-and-fall accidents and injuries to customers.

In another state, a woman filed a lawsuit after she was allegedly injured when she tripped and fell in a parking lot. The woman said she pulled up to a pump at a gas station to purchase fuel for her vehicle. As the exited her vehicle, the lawsuit claims the woman stepped in a hole or crevice, causing her to fall.

According to allegations, the woman suffered fractures in her left foot in two different places. She alleged that her injuries caused her to incur medical expenses and also caused her to endure pain and suffering. She accuses the gas station owners of negligence for failing to repair the hazard and failing to provide warning of the dangerous condition of the parking lot. The plaintiff seeks more than $50,000 in damages.

In the state of New Jersey, business owners are required by law to provide a safe and hazard-free environment for customers. Those who have suffered injuries due to negligence in slip-and-fall accidents have the right to pursue legal action. By filing a lawsuit, victims could receive monetary relief for any pain, suffering or financial losses experienced as a result of injuries.
